neXGam: The graphics look very varied. The beach level reminds me a lot of Wonder Boy in Monster World. What is your inspiration for the themes? Are they intentional nods to classic games?
Saru: Yes, very intentional. As the premise of the game requires Yuki to bounce from game world to game rowld ridding the game of whatever bug is making it corrupt. This is where Yuki's nemesis, Ultra Drive Unit: Geni, comes in to play.
neXGam: Are there any ideas you had to scrap because of the hardware limitations?
Saru: Some things that come to mind were things like parallax and the over size of stages. Much thought has to be put into things like level design and arrangement ahead of time. So far, Nodtveidt has had very little trouble implementing the majority of our ideas and few things were sacrificed so long as we keep in mind the limitations of what the console is capable of.

neXGam: You are offering ports to other consoles like the Genesis via stretchgoals. A PC Engine based character on the competitors' systems ... blasphemy?
Saru: I believe the Genesis/Mega Drive and Dreamcast are the only two consoles we'd consider porting this game to, since one of the main characters is based on a Mega Drive. It may seem blasphemous, but without giving away too many spoilers, the end of the game will explain some things, making the appearance of Henshin Engine on SEGA hardware less weird (at least I hope!)
neXGam: Will the game be available for sale on PC Engine after the Kickstarter, or is that the only chance for fans to get it?
Saru: It will be available after the Kickstarter in limited quantities depending on how the Kickstarter goes and what we have left since we are producing a certain amount of each. The campaign is basically a way to pre-order and guarantee you get a copy.
neXGam: At the moment, the game is for PC Engine CD and PC only. Why not offer a HuCard version too? Of course the music would have to be redone, but is there a chance for that in the future? Quite a few people do not have a CD drive.

neXGam: Will it be a professionally pressed CD?
Saru: Yes, the CD will be professionally pressed and will include a spine card similar to that of the Henshin Engine physical demo that some have received. More info on those can be found on the Facebook page for Henshin Engine as well.
