[XBO/SWI] Rigid Force Redux

    • Rigid Force Redux - alle Infos und Tailer zum kommenden Xbox One / Nintendo Switch shump

Headup, the critically acclaimed publisher of independent games, announced today a summer 2020 release for Rigid Force Redux on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

Developed by com8com1, a studio led by Marcel Rebenstorf, who previously worked at Ubisoft Blue Byte on titles such as ANNO and Might and Magic Heroes Online, the game has players piloting their spacecraft against an onslaught of aliens, powering up via special Energy Orbs and Force Shards which offer special offensive and defensive abilities. Rigid Force Redux will breathe new life into the classic side-scrolling shooter genre with its lovingly hand-crafted 3D models, stunning environments, detailed effects, and an electrifying Synthwave soundtrack.

Influenced by old-school shmups like R-Type, Turrican II, and Gradius, Rigid Force Redux will have players piloting a fighter that’s positively armed to the teeth with numerous upgradeable weapon systems and supplemental Force Shards! These adjustable Force Shards allow you to shoot in multiple directions, and block incoming enemy fire, while Energy Orbs appear and need to be captured in order to boost the ship’s power supply and eventually unleash an extremely powerful blast against the enemy horde. All that doesn’t only look great, but also makes you feel really powerful.

Battle it out against huge swarms of enemies, gunships, laser wielding mechs, and giant alien creatures. Every enemy has its own unique and challenging strategy, from the tiniest creature up to the largest boss. And there’s an awesome variety of those bosses — from menacing intergalactic beasts to heavily armed Mechanoids, there's a slew of unique super-sized opponents. Take out a rampaging Defense Satellite, assault a mutated cave-dwelling plant monster, and survive a nerve-wracking chase against the deadly Blade Guardship (to name just a few) on your mission to save the galaxy.

If that’s not enough, the game also includes special Arcade and Boss Rush Modes, global leaderboards and 40 achievements. Rigid Force Redux packs all the fun and features needed for endless hours of battling and blasting fun!

      Features include:
      - Unique weapons and power-up systems inspired by classics of the genre

      - A variety of different enemies, challenging mid-bosses and enormous end bosses

      - An exciting story mode with animated cutscenes

      - Additional Arcade and Boss Rush game modes for extended high score runs

      - Six different action-packed 3D stages

      - Adjustable difficulty levels — for beginners to shmup masters

      - Leaderboards and 40 achievements to unlock

      - Original synthwave soundtrack by DREAMTIME featuring Michael Chait

    • Today, we at Headup and developer com8com1 are excited to announce that Rigid Force Redux will be launching soon, with more specific information to be revealed at the upcoming Guerrilla Collective Event on June 6-8 – hosted by Greg Miller.

Rigid Force Redux is a side-scrolling shoot ‘em up (shmup) for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Following the footsteps of beloved shooters such as R-Type, Gradius, and Einhander, the game challenges the players to battle against furious waves of sci-fi themed enemies while powering up their ship with Force Shards and Energy Orbs.

Developer Marcel Rebenstorf, who have previously worked at Ubisoft Blue Byte on titles such as ANNO and Might and Magic Heroes Online, has spent the past several years working on Rigid Force Redux - his love and passion for the shmup is clearly reflected in the game.

Thanks for all the great feedback and reviews for 2.5D Shmup Rigid Force Redux available now on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. As we received a few comments on the game's difficulty and length, the developer com8com1 and Headup would like to share some information on the game's different play modes and tips on how to easily climb up the global leaderboards.

      Experience the action-packed Story Mode!
Experience the exciting storyline firsthand with the Main Mission of Rigid Force Redux! Climb into the battleship’s pilot seat and blast off to take down infected aliens and dreadful machines that are programmed to wage intergalactic war against humanity!

Throughout the mission, the players will be supported by Psye, a helpful onboard AI in their battle craft. Together, they will confront the enemy threat and blast their way through six lavishly designed stages and face multiple gigantic end bosses.

The plot of the ‘CORE’, a fearsome alien virus, is told in animated cutscenes and is dubbed in English, German and Japanese. Subtitles are also available in many other languages.
Rigid Force Redux features multiple endings - the best ending only comes after facing the challenges in the higher difficulty levels.

      Conquer The Global Leaderboards!
In addition to the Story Mode, Rigid Force Redux comes with multiple gameplay modes to keep all players on their toes. The Arcade Mode will allow replay of all stages with special sets of gameplay rules. Score big and compare the results on the leaderboards with players from all over the world!

In Arcade Mode, collecting Energy Orbs will increase the players’ multiplier level. All points will be multiplied after shooting down the foes, but the players will need to maintain a constant supply of Orbs to avoid multiplier levels to drop again. Collect as many of them as possible to boost the score!

And there are even more ways to increase your score counter: while playing in the Arcade Mode, the players might find several astronauts floating helplessly in space. Positioning the battleship close to these poor fellows to pick them up, and the players will be rewarded with extra points.

As the players go through the stages, they will eventually come across so-called Orb Bombs: These little capsules are filled with a whole lot of Energy Orbs just waiting to be released. Destroy them with the blaster to set them free!
Pro Tip: wait for some enemies to close in, as these bombs will cause extra damage when blown up!

The final opportunity for extra points arrives at the end of the stage. The players’ overall performance will be reviewed in the result screen and extra points are added if the players have fulfilled certain conditions. All combined, the players will get closer to the top of the leaderboards.

Achieve new ‘Best Time’ in Boss Rush mode
Boss Rush mode is all about setting the personal record in the time-based adventure. Jump into action and find the best tactic against all bosses to destroy them all - every second counts!
In between battles, there will be opportunities to upgrade or change the arsenal by playing short bonus stages and collect enough Energy Orbs for the next fight. If no upgrades are needed, then get into action with boost portals to complete this stage faster - after all, the timer will be ticking away mercilessly!

After a successful run the players’ best time will be sent to the global leaderboards. Beat everyone’s best time in the next run and make it to the top of the globalleaderboards!
