    • Hier ein interessanter Artikel den ich gefunden habe:

The Samurai Spirits series has never used anything so simple as numbers to distinguish its installments. When the games have come to America, retitled Samurai Shodown, they've had a II or a III or a IV appended to the end, but in Japan each successive iteration has had some lengthy Japanese subtitle -- like "Haohmaru Jigokuhen" for Samurai Shodown 2.
Samurai Spirits Zero, the long-awaited revival that came stateside as Samurai Shodown V, broke the tradition, but its new successor picks up where "Amakusa Kourin" left off. The full title would be (deep breath) Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkakuden. For the latter half, read "Legend of the World's Greatest Swordsman," an appropriate enough subtitle for a new Samurai game.

Though the sixth game in the series (and the first powered by Sammy's Atomiswave arcade hardware, rather than the Neo Geo MVS) is officially due to hit Japanese arcades some time later this year, a test version went on display in Tokyo this past weekend. Reports from the test describe something almost like the Capcom Vs. SNK games, with a huge collection of characters and several different play styles to pick from.

The cast is practically an amalgamation of all five previous games. In the location test version, the following characters were presented, although a few were only controllable by the CPU, and a few other slots were evidently blank and waiting for characters to fill them:

      Amakusa Shiro
      Caffeine Gaira
      Caffeine Nicotine
      Charlotte
      Enja
      Galford
      Gao
      Gedo
      Gen-An
      Haohmaru
      Hattori Hanzo
      Hisame Shizumaru
      Kazama Kazuki
      Kibagami Genjuro
      Kubikiri Basara
      Kurokochi Yumeji
      Mina
      Mizuki
      Nakoruru
      Rasetsumaru
      Rera
      Rimururu
      Sankuro
      Senryo Kiyoshiro
      Sogetsu
      Suija
      Tachibana Ukyo
      Tam Tam
      Wan Fu
      Yagyu Jubei
      Yunfei Liu
      Yoshitora
      Zankuro

Long-time followers of the series will notice very few omissions (save for a couple of oddities like Cham Cham and Sieger, and the always slightly uncharacteristic Earthquake) and some characters returning after long absence, like the ever-charming Gen-An. Plus, there are three original additions -- Karakuri Ochamaro (a goofy little fellow like a jack-in-the-box with clever transformation moves), Matsuribayashi Sugoroku (a jolly-looking big guy with a headband and a wide grin), and one Westerner, a bespectacled fellow with long hair named Andrew.

The Capcom vs. SNK resemblance starts to show in Tenkaichi's selection of different play modes. There are six to pick from, the same as the number of Grooves in Capcom's game, but instead of letters, they're identified with a particular Japanese character. Some of the styles hearken back to a particular one of the previous games. Zan, for instance, seems to have a bit in common with Samurai Shodown IV, subtitled "Zankuro Musouken" in Japan.

Tenkaichi adds a fifth button to the layout employed in the last two Samurai games (three slash buttons plus a fourth kick button), which has several different functions depending on which style the player picks. The first mode, Ikari, renders it unusable in exchange for greater raw offensive and defensive power, but in the other five modes it performs different defensive moves, like a parry, an attack cancel, and a quick pursuit dash. Ken mode, in addition, features a "perfect guard" that consumes the power gauge and a dodge move called "mikiri slide," which lets the player cancel an attack and instead boost the power gauge with the correct timing. Every mode also offers a different set of power gauge characteristics and corresponding special move commands -- Shin mode has the weapon-breaking moves from Samurai Shodown II (also known as Shin Samurai Spirits).

Reportedly, the series' Atomiswave debut is easy enough on the eyes. The retro-styled visuals in Samurai Shodown V may be keeping expectations a bit low as yet, but by all accounts the background artwork is quite sharp, although the character sprites are still a little rough around the edges, as was the case with the characters in King of Fighters NeoWave. Tenkaichi is likely still very far from completion, though, so we'll wait to pass judgment until getting a good look at it ourselves.

That should happen some time later this year, if and when SNK chooses to test a new version again. So far, SNK has staged two tests within the span of about five weeks, suggesting that it'll be looking for more feedback again fairly soon. Hopefully some key questions will be answered in due time -- it's not even entirely clear who's developing the new game, since Samurai Shodown V developer Yuki Enterprise is not mentioned in the copyright indicia for Tenkaichi Kenkakuden. Expect further updates if a more advanced version breaks cover later in the summer.
